The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is an eight-month religious formation process for adults who wish to join the Catholic Church. Participants examine their faith while learning about the Catholic tradition. Through weekly classes, the shared experience of weekly Mass, special liturgies and service, candidates examine and deepen their faith lives, while learning about the Catholic tradition.  RCIA begins each year in the fall and continues through May.

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is primarily a journey of faith through:
•    the stages of asking questions and seeking answers;
•    introduction and beginning to become involved within the Catholic Community;
•    listening and reflecting upon the Word of God proclaimed at liturgy;
•    study and reflection about the Catholic experience;
•    any doubts or hesitations;
•    discernment of God’s call;
•    the steps of commitment through the reception of the sacraments:
Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist.
